Football & Room...

Over the years, Sohan's interest has changed. From Thomas, he went to Khalsa where he has umpteen books of his drawing of them, watched DVDs of the sikh animation movies and Dharmik Geets non stop whole day long. Even for his 5th birthday, he has a Khalsa cake with the picture of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur. Then, this year came the World Cup and his newfound passion; football. He is so into it that he only has football whole day long on his mind. He has numerous jerseys, a huge collection of football cards, knows his players by hard not to mention a great goal keeper! Signs of my little boy growing up.

Recently I have been putting it in his head that he will need to start sleeping in his own room from December onwards. He is quite afraid of it but i can see some excitement now that i have moved his clothes into his own room. He diligently takes his baths there and is getting used to the independence. maybe the sleeping alone without his beloved pitaji take some time, and till then i need to accomplish my task of doing up the kids room to futher create the sense of belonging to it.

School!!!!

2 years!! I had almost forgotten about this blog as i had gotten so caught up with tending to work and home life. Working plus taking care of 2 young kids in today's world if not an easy task!
So much has happened, wish i could rewind back time to remember things as these past two years especially for Nimmerta are the most funny and memorable ones.

Its almost year end now and my babies are growing up...Sohan will be leaving his kindy years and moving into a whole new phase of his life; primary school. I am actually very anxious for him and always silently praying that all will be well. This Saturday is his entrance assessment and Jagdev and me have been trying to prepare him with some basic stuff...however, he has fallen ill and things have slowed down a little. But i do believe that for such an innocent and pure child like him, Guruji will take care of it all :)

Nimmerta on the other hand, had started school this year at the tender age of 2 1/2 years...anyway, it was she who insisted on going to school and i had to give in as i could not tolerate the hysterical cries of hers every morning anymore..LOL! But half way through, i realised that she was more interested in the activities (singing & coloring) rather than studying (naturally at her age) therefore for next year am on the hunt for a playschool which is more fun based and not too focused on education. Its been really a headache as there are no playschools nearby our home, as such the hunt continues...

Dining With Kids

Sometimes i wonder.....that it might be easier to fight a war than to dine out with kids...not to mention at the end of the war you walk away with pride as opposed to walking away with embarassment! When it was just Sohan alone, it wasn't that tough....not to mention with him being a poor eater. Now with Nimmerta and Sohan together.....sometimes Jagdev and I return from dinner more stressed than we were before going out.

Nimmerta is a real handful...she refuses to sit still in the baby chair....wants to grab everything on the table and now, insist on eating on her own! During one of our dinner outings last week, the food for the table next to us arrived first. Oh....you should have seen her.....she was screaming and pulling my arms to get me to bring her food from the other table....thank God for the waitress who quickly ran in and got her a plate of rice. Should have seen her excitement and how quite she became after that.

So you see on one side we had a kid who was trying to feed herself with a spoon....which looked more like she was trying to distribute the rice to the unknown species on the floor.......and on the other hand we had Sohan Singh who we were struggling to feed him even a few bites of his food! Therefore you can imagine the stress level there......handling these 2 kids while trying to fill up your own tummy!!

At the end of every dine out where Nimmerta is with us...i find myself apologising to the waiter and waitresses for the mess created. Luckily, majority of the places we go they are familiar with us........sigh.......

Bagpipes and Drums

I did not know the consequences of getting married to someone beloging to a band. Ah...too late for that.....the music genes got passed on to Sohan.....of course, i won't deny that being musically inclined is a wonderful gift but these pass 2 weeks have cost me, dad, grandmother and the maid a headache and not to mention, a constant whining!

Well, you see....Satwant veerji gifted Jagdev with a Scottish Band CD. At first, it was a delight to listen to it.....Sohan was so excited and really loved listening to it whenever he travelled in the car. He even has his favorite numbers. Then, slowly the CD got transferred to the house...and now Jagdev made another copy of it...so he can even play it when he travels in dad's car. He plays it the WHOLE time.......

Imagine listening to it the moment he wakes up in the morning while getting dressed for school....then transfers it to the car while on the way to school. Once i come back home after work, it will be playing in the house........that i secretly feel like hiding the CD or even had the evil thought of destroying it.......but then again, the motherly feelings takes over and..................

Overcoming Shyness.......

Sohan is just soooo shy, so reserved when he goes out or meets people whom he does not know so well yet (but of course with us or at home he is totally the opposite until i have to confess sometimes that i silently pray so that he will just keep quite for a short while).......Jagdev and me have been trying our best to get him to overcome that, its slighty better but still needs lots of improvement......wonder who's genes did he get that from......

The other day, we started him on punjabi class. It was with a very nice penji (don't know her name), held at my sister-in-law, Suki's place. There were all together 6 students compromising of Sohan, his cousins Gureesha & Ekraj and their 3 other cousins (whom he knows well). He obediently listened to everything the penji had to say and did all that she asked hin to write but just refused to open his mouth at all! She tried her level best to get him to speak but to no avail. When he returned home and we asked him why didnt he speak...guess what he said.....'I only speak to those who stay in my house and a few other names that he mentioned! (including immediate relatives and his close friends)......

Now...will somebody help me please..................!!!!

Random Pictures.....

How time flies....

It's been a while since i have posted anything....well, due to many reasons actually; busy, lazy, don't know what to write..etc etc etc....
Actually, there has been so much happening that at times I get confused on what to write....the kids come up with amazing things everyday...that there is just so much to write....that the thought of it makes me lazy......
Everyday with them is a wonderful day...everyday they do or say something funny, something naughty, something deep, something amusing.....really, never thought that having kids could make your life so eventful.....never boring.....
So, i have decided to write on anything that touches me, makes me laugh or makes me tear up as with time, memory sometimes fades but here, i will be able to put all those wonderful memories in writing for me to read whenever i feel down and upset.....cos that is the best medicine for me.....
